Muzz returns home

Hi all,
Well when I flew down to see Muzz in rehab, 2 weeks after his stroke, he greets me in an electric wheelchair and the Hospital said he would be there for at least 6 weeks.
A few days later they tell us it looks more like 4 weeks and took the wheelchair away from him. Very slowly more feeling was coming back to his right side and his speech improving daily.
One week later Muzz is walking a km bare feet on St Kilda Beach and managing to playing some chords on his keyboard up in his room - now the hospital say he can go home in a week as he can now manage walking, stairs, eating etc by himself.

Yesterday Muzz and Anita flew home where he will continue his daily exercises plus attend out patients a few days a week.  He still has a long way to go but it is more the fine tuning, like dexterity in his fingers and feet and twisting and bending.
His spirit and awareness is all the old Murray, and that is the Murray that has brought his body this far in only a few weeks and will continue till he is whole again.
He may reach a wall where he stops naturally improving and has to then teach himself how to do certain things but lets wait and see as that day may never come...
Thanks to all those who have, and continue to, support him through this unexpected halt in Murray's life.

Muzza update

Hi All,

Well the really big news (and good news!) is that Murray's finally been moved to a private hospital which has one of the biggest and best rehabilitation services in Victoria! So now he really is in the best place he could possibly be, and the (probably long) rehab process has just begun due to Easter.  He is very happy with his progress after only 2 days of working out and was able to hold both arms up over his head and was able to stand up for the first time. He is fully understanding the long haul of recovery ahead and totally committed to it. He loves the staff who are young and energetic and wanting to help him so much.

The other big news is that everything is coming together for the fundraiser benefit gig being held at the Byron Bay Brewery on Anzac Day, Wed 25th April from 7pm till around 10pm. This will feature an 'all-star' band of famous names - including artists from Dragon, The Bootleg Family and Moving Pictures, backing Oz rock legends such as Glenn Shorrock, Russell Morris and Brian Cadd among others - all of whom are coming together just to help raise much needed cash to help tide Muzz and Anita over until he's well enough to move back up to Byron and start getting his affairs in order.  Muzz being Muzz is  totally blown out by his beautiful caring friends....all up it is our Muzza shining through it all, no wonder we love him so much.

I am flying down to spend a week with him on Tuesday and to also give Anita a well deserved break.
Keep sending those positive vibes and keep saying those prayers for him folks.

a little news is still good news

Colin & I had lunch with Murray's brother today, he has spent the last 2 days with Murray.  He said he still continues to improve under his own will power.
Murray actually rung me tonight and we had a good talk - way more clarity than the last 2 times and he is moving around from bed to chair and sitting and standing so his leg is slowly starting to respond.
They still say it may be Tuesday before all the facts are in and rehab can be planned - so i just think about how lucky I was to play in Mi-Sex again and feel the joy of just loosing it in the music, especially with Murray, Paul & Colin - a lot of musicians don't get that opportunity later in life.  Muzz is still saying he will play the gig we have planned in late September, so I hold that thought and look for the beauty in each day...  Don

Murray update 28th

Today his speech improved, though still faded in and out.  He discussed playing at an up and coming gig we had planned with Pixie (our sound guy) so if that is the carrot to edge him on, I'll tell him I'm practising for it...
He was able to touch his nose 2 out of 3 times but his right leg is still showing very slow improvement.
Thanks again for all the positive vibes coming his way..  Don

Murray update

Thanks for the 100's of enquires about Murray and for the love and prays that are flowing his way.  He did have a stroke and this has affected his right side.
The hospital say it will still be a few days till they know the full impact but he is mentally fine.
The good news is today he impressed everyone by lifting his right arm over his shoulder, when yesterday he was just moving his thumb.
Will keep you updated...

Generous Fan at the Annandale

I am making this post hoping that the fan who gave our publicist $150 cash on Friday night as she was leaving the Annandale, will notice it when looking for an update on Murray.
The $150 was so Mi-Sex could purchase a "Save The Annandale Plaque" to go up on the wall of the Annandale.
First Mi-Sex would like to thank you very much for supporting "Our Music", "Live Music", & "Live Music Venues".
Second; can you please contact us through our web site so we can communicate with you directly.
Thirdly: Thanks again, I will make sure the Plaque is purchased.  Don
